SANYUAN local area network (LAN) comprises twisted pair cables, access points, switches, routers, and other components to achieve broadband access. This configuration allows for the implementation of the PON connection to the distribution box within the building. Integrated wiring is adopted in the corridor, wherein the optical is converted into electrical through using an ONU to establish a connection between the internal servers, web servers, and other LANs to the residential premises.

Since its standardization in 1983 (IEEE802.3), LAN has undergone four decades of development and maturation. With the advent of the 21st century, the widespread implementation of Wi-Fi technology has led to the ubiquitous presence of LANs in almost every conceivable place, the wireless connectivity has also greatly expanded the types of devices that can be connected to a LAN, which range from PCs, printers, and phones to smart TVs, stereos, speakers, lighting, thermostats, window shades, door locks, security cameras–and even coffeemakers, refrigerators, and toys.
